Festival Workshops

Education is a big part of the San José Mariachi and Mexican Heritage Festival. We’d love for you to join our artists and educators for some of our fun and informative workshop experiences.

Are you a musician or dancer yourself? Maybe you’d like to join our Mariachi and Folkorico Workshops for two days of intensive master classes with experts Mariachi Cobre, José Tena, and Maria Luisa Colmenarez.

Are you an educator, interested in how mariachi music can enhance your classroom environment? We have an Educator's Symposium on the use of Mariachi Music and Math in the classroom that you might enjoy.

Are you interested in traditional Mexican building techniques or sustainable environmental practices? We’re bringing in Bill and Athena Steen, experts on Mexican adobe and strawbale construction techniques to teach our Green Workshops. Stop by and join in.

Are you new to Mariachi music and want to learn what all the excitement is about? Start off Mariachi Festival week with a visit to Mariachi 101, an introductory presentation by Mariachi expert and author Gil Sperry.
